Until her early 20s, Anita dreamed of being a high-powered ad exec. But in her final year as an undergraduate, she attended a screening of The Vienna Tribunal, a documentary that exposed women’s human rights violations around the world. Sitting in the theatre, Anita was gob-smacked to learn about female genital cutting, stoning and human trafficking. She was also angry that none of these issues had been covered in her three-year degree program.

After seeing the film, there was no turning back. Stilettos and power suits had lost their allure. Instead, Anita plunged full-throttle into women’s studies.
